How to read this document
Sections move from purpose → concepts → calculation process → worked examples → edge cases. Formula boxes use plain mathematical notation for clarity; they are conceptual summaries, not API contracts.
- Point lists call out operator-visible behaviour.
- Callouts mark warnings, limitations, or important qualifications.
- Worked examples use round numbers so you can reproduce the arithmetic by hand.
Purpose
Shopping List is a shared planning checklist, not a purchase or inventory ledger.
- Add items with optional quantity and unit
- Group items under aisle/section labels so the list reads in store order
- Mark urgency as urgent, soon, or later
- Assign a household member to buy an item
- Mark items complete after purchase
- Bulk add, reorder, or clear items in one action
- Share a text list or a sectioned PDF of open vs bought items
- See an estimated price range per item and for the whole list, once the ForeSense shopper screens are built
Shared workflow
Complete an item
- Add the item with quantity/unit if useful.
- Optionally assign who should buy it (mobile push only).
- Buy the item and mark it complete.
- Record the actual expense separately if needed.
Planning and financial reporting stay distinct.
Item state and access
- Open and bought items are shown in separate sections.
- Aisle/section labels group items; the shared PDF keeps the same sections.
- Urgency (urgent/soon/later) orders attention without changing any amount.
- Bulk actions (add several items, reorder, clear bought) act on list state only.
- Permissions govern editing.
- Deleting an item does not delete any expense.
- Price estimates are computed alongside the list, never stored on it: the list row carries no price, and switching ForeSense off leaves every item exactly as it was.

Completing a shopping item does not prove purchase or automatically create an expense.
Assignment alerts
Assignee alerts are mobile push / in-app only — no email.
Estimates are not the list
Once the shopper screens are built, a price range and a list total will appear beside the items where ForeSense is enabled. They are estimates computed from shared receipt prices, they do not change any item, and planning and financial reporting stay distinct.
Privacy, advice limits, and what we do not publish
AccountHouse is a household tracking and organisation tool. It is not a bank, payment processor, tax advisor, or investment advisor. Forecasts, health scores, balances, and alerts are informational.
- Household data is scoped to your household; other families cannot see your ledger.
- Public documentation explains product behaviour and calculation concepts, not proprietary internals.
- Exact scoring weights, anomaly thresholds, cryptography parameters beyond high-level algorithms, and operational detection rules are reserved.
- Shared list text is visible to permitted household members.
Intellectual property boundary
This document describes what AccountHouse calculates and which inputs matter. It does not disclose source algorithms, secret constants, or implementation details sufficient to reconstruct proprietary systems.
